Located on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, Essaouira is without a doubt the Moroccan capital of wind. This is what makes this city so popular with surfing enthusiasts.  

Combining seaside destination for water sports enthusiasts and cultural destination for history buffs, Essaouira has everything to please: waves that make its reputation all over the world, it is also there that a stage of the kitesurfing world cup (KPWT) takes place every year, but also its medina heavy with history. 

By getting lost between the streets of this medina which was the place of shooting of some scenes of the famous series "Game of Thrones", we can only be immersed in its history. The influences of the Arabs, Africans, Romans and French blend together to create a soft and relaxed seaside town. The scent of spices transports us, and the cries of seagulls lull us.  

Add to that 300 days of sunshine and mild temperatures, and you have the perfect destination for a dream vacation. Although Essaouira doesn't have much to see outside of its medina, it's a great place to spend a few days relaxing, whether it's for a weekend or as part of a longer itinerary in Morocco. You can also spend a longer stay here as part of an introduction to surfing, kitesurfing, or a yoga retreat.  

The city is also known for its famous Gnaoua festival which attracts thousands of tourists and travelers from all over the world every year. The city is also known for its Gnaoui spirit, although it is the crossroads of various cultures, and one can only feel welcome there.  

Essaouira is above all a destination where you can eat well, especially for lovers of fresh fish. We can only recommend you to taste a good tagine of fish souiri followed by a glass of hot mint tea!
