For centuries, the city of Taroudant was the kingdom of the emirs of Hachtouka and Jazouia.  

It was also the capital of a small Shiite kingdom during the 6th century, before becoming the first capital of Morocco during the Saadian reign over Morocco, before Marrakech. This is what gives it the nickname of "little Marrakech" today.  

Walls were built on a length of 6 kilometers around the city during the reign of the Saadi dynasty, as well as the great mosque of the city. The city is known for its 5 historic gates.  

Located between the High Atlas and the Anti Atlas, the city of Taroudant is the starting point for various hikes, but also a destination to enjoy the sun.  

The souks of the city are an obligatory passage of the city, especially to buy silver jewelry and other Berber jewelry, as well as carpets, leather goods...
